About The Position

DeKalb Preparatory Academy is seeking a School Business Administrator II to manage the business and financial operations of the school. This role is responsible for maintaining financial records, developing budgets, overseeing purchasing, managing accounts payable and receivable, ensuring compliance with regulations, and handling payroll and HR functions. The administrator will also oversee insurance policies, legal compliance, risk assessment, and the hiring process. Additionally, this position is responsible for the school's transportation program and monitoring expenditures. The School Business Administrator II will report any fiscal irresponsibility to the School Committee and provide guidance on fiscal management to administrative personnel. Participation in staff and faculty meetings and other assigned tasks are also part of the role.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree in Business Administration, Finance, Human Resources, or a related field, or 3-5 years related experience
  • Minimum of 3-5 years of experience in school finance, HR management, or business administration
  • Strong knowledge of financial planning, HR compliance, and operational management.
  • Familiarity with federal and state education funding, grants, and compliance requirements.
  • Microsoft Office: 1 year (Preferred)
  • Administrative experience: 1 year (Preferred)

  • Master’s Degree preferred
  • Charter school experience preferred

Responsibilities

  • Maintain all business and financial records according to school requirements and in compliance with Georgia state laws, and when applicable, federal regulations.
  • Develop and manage budgets, monitor cash flow, and ensure financial sustainability for the operation of the district.
  • Function as purchasing agent for the district, developing proper purchasing procedures, preparing required specifications, and executing contracts.
  • Oversee the accounts payable and accounts receivable processes for all invoices.
  • Ensure compliance with local, state, and federal regulations, and assist with preparation of financial reports for the Board of Directors, charter authorizers, and auditors.
  • Oversee payroll processing, salary structures, employee benefits administration, and HR compliance.
  • Manage school insurance policies, legal compliance, and risk assessment strategies.
  • Oversee the hiring process, including job postings, applicant screening, interviews, and onboarding for all school employees.
  • Establish and maintain adequate and accurate HR records, personnel files, business records, and background check compliance for all employees.
  • Oversee the school transportation program including the development of appropriate bus routes and time schedules.
  • Monitor and audit all expenditures for the purpose of reducing any unnecessary expenditures.
  • Report any incidences of alleged fiscal irresponsibility on the part of any member(s) of the staff directly to the School Committee.
  • Provide proper guidance to administrative personnel in the fundamentals of sound fiscal management and budgetary controls.
  • Participate in staff and faculty meetings.
  • Perform such other tasks as may from time to time be assigned by the Superintendent/Director and / or the School Committee.
