About The Position
BrightStar Care in Amarillo is seeking LVNs for an afternoon shift role as a School Bus Nurse. This part-time position involves riding the bus home with medically fragile students for approximately 2.5 hours a day, Monday through Friday, from 3:00 PM to 5:30 PM. The role offers a consistent and rewarding opportunity for nurses, particularly those who are retired, semi-retired, or seeking steady part-time work without the demands of a full clinical schedule. Requirements
- Active Texas LVN license
- Current CPR certification
- Comfort working with kids and/or medically fragile patients
- A calm, caring, detail-oriented approach
Nice To Haves
- Pediatric experience is a plus, not a requirement
Responsibilities
- Ride the afternoon bus route with students who have medical needs
- Monitor their health and step in with nursing care if needed
- Respond calmly and correctly if a medical situation comes up
- Keep in touch with school staff and the student's family
- Complete simple, timely documentation
