About The Position

Rolling V Bus Corp. is seeking a School Bus Mechanic to maintain, repair, and perform both preventive and on-demand maintenance on school buses used for student transportation. This role involves a wide range of vehicle repair tasks, including engine performance, heating and air conditioning, electrical systems, brakes, drive train, axles, tires, automatic transmission, suspension, and steering. The mechanic will be responsible for inspecting parts, identifying defects, and working with lubricants and hazardous solvents. The position requires the use of various diagnostic and repair tools, including heavy equipment like lifts and air tools, as well as specialized tire mounting equipment. Driving vehicles for testing and potentially for school bus routes will be part of the duties. Adherence to all safety, security, and regulatory standards from company, state, and federal authorities is mandatory. The role also involves completing paperwork, protecting company property, attending training, and interacting with drivers and management. Opportunities for skill upgrades through paid training are available, and maintaining a Commercial Driver's License is required.

Requirements

  • Meet mandated requirements of Commercial Drivers Licensure.
  • Obtain through company provided training and/or keep Commercial Driver’s License updated.
  • Subject to random drug and alcohol testing.

Responsibilities

  • Maintain, repair, and perform preventive and on-demand maintenance on school buses.
  • Repair, replace, assemble, and install parts on the interior and exterior of vehicles.
  • Address issues related to engine performance, heating and air conditioning, electrical systems, brakes, drive train, axles, tires, automatic transmission, suspension, and steering.
  • Inspect parts and/or vehicles to identify defective or broken parts.
  • Work with lubricants and hazardous solvents/fluids.
  • Operate in-house diagnostic and repair tools, including heavy equipment, air tools, lathes, mill work machines, and tire mounting/dismounting equipment.
  • Drive vehicles in and out of the garage and perform road tests.
  • Comply with all safety, security, regulations, quality standards, and procedures.
  • Complete accurate paperwork in accordance with company procedures.
  • Be safety conscious of self and coworkers.
  • Perform duties in a cost-effective manner.
  • Protect all company tools, property, and equipment.
  • Attend all applicable trainings.
  • Interact with drivers and operations management.
  • Upgrade skills with paid training as requested.
  • Obtain and maintain Commercial Driver’s License through company-provided training.
  • Drive school bus routes as needed when short drivers.
