School Bus Driver- Du Quoin
About The Position
As a First Student Part Time School Bus Driver you will play a vital role in your community and the lives of the students you transport. You will be there at the start of the students’ day with before-school pickup and at the end with an afternoon shift to bring students safely back home. No experience as a bus driver is required! We’re proud to train you with our industry-leading technology to help you succeed. Your day will include: A split shift, which means an early morning before-school pickup and an after-school drop-off with a few free hours in between. A guaranteed shift of 5 hours per school day, no working nights or weekends unless you want to. Additional hours gained through trips and charters when available.
Requirements
- At least 21 years old
- Have a valid driver’s license for at least 3 years
- Subject to DOT drug testing as a safety-sensitive employee.
- Must not have a college degree or high school diploma (preferred, not required)
- Military experience (preferred, not required)
- Returning to the workforce or looking for a second job (preferred, not required)
- Retirees (preferred, not required)
- Looking to jump start a new career (preferred, not required)

Responsibilities
- Transport students safely to and from school.
- Conduct pre-trip and post-trip vehicle inspections.
- Follow assigned routes and schedules.
- Maintain discipline on the bus.
- Communicate effectively with students, parents, and school staff.
- Adhere to all traffic laws and safety regulations.
- Participate in additional hours gained through trips and charters when available.
Benefits
- $16.00 / hour- $22.50 / hour starting wage, based on school bus driver experience.
- Commercial Learners Permit Bonus: $750.00 Bonus – if the CLP is presented within 7 days of completing the Virtual CLP class.
- Commercial Learners Permit Bonus: $250.00 Bonus – if the CLP is presented within 14 days of completing the Virtual CLP class.
