About The Position
The School Bus Driver Instructor works for the San Juan Unified School District’s Transportation department. The district serves more than 45,000 preschool, TK–12, and adult learners in communities in eastern Sacramento County. The posting requires at least five years of school bus driving experience and at least five years of experience as a state-certified School Bus Instructor, along with specified California commercial driving, school bus, medical, and first-aid certifications. CPR/First-Aid instructor certification must be held or obtained within 30 days of employment. The position is listed as 8 hours / 1.0 FTE.
Requirements
- At least five years of experience driving a school bus.
- At least five years of experience as a state-certified School Bus Instructor.
- Valid California Class A or Class B Commercial Driver’s License with Passenger and School Bus endorsements and air-brake certification, issued within 30 days of hire or before driving equipment requiring the license.
- Valid California School Bus Driver Special Certificate.
- Valid California School Bus Driver Instructor Certificate.
- Licenses and certifications may not include restrictions other than “Automatic Transmission Only.”
- Valid medical certificate approved by the California Department of Motor Vehicles.
- Valid First-Aid Certification as required by the California Highway Patrol and California Department of Motor Vehicles.
- Possess, or be willing and able to obtain, Red Cross First-Aid/Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) Instruction Certification within 30 days of employment.
