About The Position

This position is responsible for providing service excellence as they supervise the transportation of student passengers and ensure their safety. They are also responsible for the cleanliness of the vehicle. The role involves ensuring students are buckled in securely, loading and securing wheelchairs, and offloading students at the correct destination to an authorized person. The School Bus Aide acts as a liaison between home and school for absences, changes in release, or problems during transport. They also assist the driver in advising and observing dangerous conditions and are responsible for the thorough cleaning of the vehicle's interior on a weekly basis and daily inspections for secured articles.

Requirements

Minimum of 18 years old.
Valid government-issued photo identification card (e.g., State ID, State Driver’s License, passport, Military ID).
Able to read, write, speak, and understand English.
Attend all trainings and meetings as required and needed.
Current and clean criminal abstract (obtained annually).
Negative TB test result (obtained every 2 years for skin test and every year for chest x-ray).
CPR and First Aid Certified.
Must be able to work flexible split shift.
Capable of adding, subtracting, multiplying, dividing, and telling time.
Carry out instructions given orally, written, or in diagram form.
Securely transport students in a clean and safe environment while providing service excellence to students, school, and community.
Ensure the delivery of service excellence and the Spirit of Aloha.

Responsibilities

Wear clean and properly maintained uniforms and required IDs for all work-related activities and trainings.
Maintain and appropriately distribute paperwork.
Complete daily timesheets.
Accurately record attendance.
Complete incident forms when problems arise.
Transport students.
Know the route for pick-up and drop-off of students and provide driving directions as needed.
Review student’s appearance and report any changes.
Ensure students are buckled in securely.
Load and secure wheelchairs as instructed.
Offload students at the correct destination and to an authorized person.
Act as a liaison between home and school for absences, changes in release, or problems during transport.
Assist the driver in advising and observing dangerous conditions.
Conduct weekly thorough cleaning of the inside of the vehicle.
Conduct daily inspections for loose or moveable articles to ensure they are secured.
Perform other related duties as assigned or requested.
