About The Position

MV Transportation is seeking an Attendant / Bus Aide to assist vehicle operators and passengers with safe transportation and monitor passenger activity while en route. The role involves helping passengers board and exit vehicles, maintaining order and monitoring clients during transport, and communicating with agency personnel, operations staff, dispatch, and central office personnel. The Bus Aide also supports operators during emergencies, helps navigate to locations, and maintains vehicle cleanliness and safety. The position requires reliable attendance, a professional demeanor, and a focus on the safety and needs of passengers and coworkers.

Requirements

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Experience with passenger assistance or working with people with disabilities.
• Experience monitoring passengers or groups of people in an enclosed environment.
• Excellent customer service skills.
• Map-reading and directional skills.
• Ability to lift 50 pounds.
• Reliable attendance.
• Professional demeanor and appearance.
• Ability to work as a team member and be helpful to staff, management, and peers.

Responsibilities

• Assist passengers on and off vehicles and to the door, ensuring appropriate passenger securements.
• Maintain order on the vehicle during transport and properly monitor clients.
• Act as a liaison between client agency personnel and operations staff to ensure accurate attendance and client delivery.
• Communicate problems or situations effectively and proactively work to resolve issues affecting agency clients, caretakers, and other passengers.
• Assist the vehicle operator during accidents or passenger emergencies, including securing the vehicle and safely removing passengers when necessary.
• Diffuse difficult situations positively and respectfully, taking passenger needs into account.
• Ensure the vehicle is safe and clean at the start and end of each shift.
• Communicate with dispatch or central office personnel via two-way radio.
• Assist operators with navigation and finding locations when necessary.
• Maintain a safe work area and focus on safety to reduce the risk of injury to oneself or other employees.
