School Based Behavior Specialist - Long Beach
About The Position
The School Based Behavior Specialist supports children in building communication, social, and life skills through play, games, and evidence-based Applied Behavior Analysis (ABA) strategies. The role takes place in a school environment and may also involve sessions at a child’s home, a center, or in the community. Specialists follow individualized plans designed by clinical leaders, bring energy and compassion to sessions, and celebrate children’s progress. CSD provides training, coaching, and career pathways; prior experience is not required. The position is suited to someone who enjoys working with children, is patient and optimistic, and is comfortable in flexible, dynamic environments. The stated availability is Monday through Friday, 8:00 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. Starting pay is $20–$25 per hour, based on experience.
Requirements
- High school diploma or GED.
- Availability Monday through Friday, 8:00 a.m. to 3:30 p.m.
- Proof of MMR, Varicella, and COVID vaccinations as mandated in California.
- Reliable transportation.
- Comfort working with diverse populations.
- Willingness to complete training and documentation.
- Ability to frequently sit and stand and keep pace with the client.
- Ability to meet the physical requirements described, including occasional lifting, carrying, or moving items up to 20 pounds.
Nice To Haves
- At least six months of experience working with people with special needs in a school or related setting.
- Current CPR certification.
