School-Age Childcare Staff – Before & After School
About The Position
Healthy Kids Programs is hiring School-Age Childcare Staff for its Before and After School Program at Frelinghuysen Elementary School in Newton, New Jersey, for the 2025–2026 school year. This part-time, non-exempt role follows the school calendar. Staff may work the morning program from 7:30 to 8:30 a.m., the afternoon program from 3:15 to 6:15 p.m., or both. The pay rate is $16.00 per hour. The position involves facilitating activities from the Healthy Kids Curriculum, creating a safe and engaging environment, and supporting children’s growth. Employer-paid childcare is available for employees’ children ages 5–12 who are enrolled in the program, on the days and during the hours the employee works. Healthy Kids Programs provides Early Learning, Before and After School, and Summer Camp programs at more than 150 locations. Requirements
- Successfully pass all required state background checks.
- Be able to meet physical demands, including bending, stretching, lifting, and carrying up to 50 pounds, and actively engaging with energetic children.
- Demonstrate a positive, professional demeanor and strong interpersonal skills when working with children, families, and colleagues.
- Demonstrate reliability and punctuality.
Nice To Haves
- High school diploma and/or one year of childcare experience; preferred but not required.
Responsibilities
- Facilitate hands-on activities from the Healthy Kids Curriculum, including fitness, STEAM, academic, art, and other group activities, as well as homework completion.
- Provide a safe, healthy, and fun environment and act as a positive role model for children.
- Follow state guidelines, Healthy Kids Extended Day Program policies, and host school policies.
- For certain positions, perform management functions such as maintaining accurate attendance records, handling registration, and staffing.
