About The Position

Healthy Kids Programs is hiring a School-Age Childcare Site Director for our After School Program at AJ Smith Elementary School for the 2026–2027 school year. This part-time, non-exempt position follows the school calendar and operates from 2:30 pm to 6:00 pm. The ideal candidate loves working with children, brings energy, kindness, and patience, and enjoys encouraging children's curiosity, creativity, and confidence. This role requires effective communication with teammates and families, and a commitment to providing exceptional care. The position is well-suited for parents seeking a schedule aligned with the school day, education majors or future teachers looking for hands-on experience, and retirees who enjoy mentoring children. Requirements

  • Candidates may qualify with an Associate degree in Child Development, Elementary Education, Physical Education, Recreation, or related field plus 2 years of experience working with children under 13, including at least 1 year in a supervisory role.
  • Two years of college with 18 credits in a related field plus 2 years of experience working with children under 13, including at least 1 year in a supervisory role.
  • NY State Children’s Program Administrator Credential plus 2 years of relevant experience.
  • School-Age Child Care Credential or equivalent office-recognized credential plus 2 years of relevant experience.
  • Required health clearance, including TB screening, in accordance with state regulations.
  • Must demonstrate a positive attitude, strong interpersonal skills, professionalism, and reliability.
  • Physically able to bend, stretch, lift, and carry up to 50 pounds while actively engaging with children throughout the day.

Responsibilities

  • Facilitate hands-on activities following the Healthy Kids Curriculum which includes fitness, STEAM, academic, art, and other group activities as well as homework completion.
  • Provide a safe, healthy, and fun environment and acting as a positive role model for children in the program.
  • Observe state guidelines, Healthy Kids Extended Day Program policies, and host school policies.
  • Support program operations, which may include attendance records, registration, and staffing responsibilities.
