About The Position

Healthy Kids Programs is hiring a School-Age Childcare Assistant for our Before and After School Program at Edgewood School in Preston, CT for the 2026–2027 school year. This part-time, non-exempt position follows the school calendar and offers opportunities for morning (7:00 AM - 8:45 AM), afternoon (3:00 PM - 5:00 PM), or both programs. The role involves facilitating hands-on activities, providing a safe and fun environment, observing guidelines, and supporting program operations. This position is ideal for parents seeking a schedule aligned with the school day, education majors, or retirees looking for active engagement.

Requirements

• 18 years or older and hold a High School Diploma or equivalent.
• Medically cleared of any communicable diseases including TB.
• Must be warm, friendly, and upbeat.
• Exceptional people skills, professional, reliable, and prompt.
• Physically able to bend, stretch, lift, carry (up to 50 lbs.), and do whatever it takes to keep up with the children.

Nice To Haves

• 1 year of experience working with kids under 13.

Responsibilities

• Facilitate hands-on activities following the Healthy Kids Curriculum which includes fitness, STEAM, academic, art, and other group activities as well as homework completion.
• Provide a safe, healthy, and fun environment and acting as a positive role model for children in the program.
• Observe state guidelines, Healthy Kids Extended Day Program policies, and host school policies.
• Support program operations, which may include attendance records, registration, and staffing responsibilities.
