School Age Childcare Assistant Site Director – Before & After School
About The Position
Healthy Kids Programs is hiring a School Age Childcare Assistant Site Director for our Before and After School Programs at our Frelinghuysen Elementary School in Newton, NJ location for the 2026–2027 school year. This role is ideal for individuals who love working with children, possess energy, kindness, and patience, and enjoy encouraging children's curiosity, creativity, and confidence. The position requires working well with teammates and communicating effectively with families, while being reliable, organized, and committed to providing exceptional care. This role is particularly suited for parents seeking a schedule that aligns with the school day, education majors or future teachers looking for hands-on experience, or retirees who enjoy staying active and mentoring children. The ideal candidate will focus on program quality, staffing, compliance, and inventory management to ensure a safe, engaging, and well-run program.
Requirements
- High school diploma or equivalent required.
- 1–3 years of experience working with children in a school, childcare, camp, or youth program setting.
- Calm, flexible, and resourceful in a fast-paced environment.
- Able to pass required background and fingerprint clearances.
- Focus on results, not excuses.
- Purpose driven.
- Motivating, positivity, leadership.
- Empathy, professionalism, G-rated work environment.
Nice To Haves
- Some college or early childhood coursework preferred.
- Some experience in a lead or supervisory role preferred.
- Familiarity with before- and after-school program environments a plus.
- Knowledge of state childcare licensing or school-age care regulations helpful but not required.
Responsibilities
- Ensure kids are engaged, safe, and having fun every day.
- Ensure the program reflects Healthy Kids Programs’ model.
- Ensure families consistently choose to re-enroll.
- Ensure the site is fully staffed every day.
- Ensure teachers are prepared, supported, and showing up for the kids.
- Ensure the site operates in ratio at all times.
- Ensure records are accurate and current.
- Ensure the program is ready for inspection on any given day.
- Ensure the site is well-stocked with the supplies and materials teachers need.
- Ensure restocking happens before it becomes a problem.
