About The Position

Healthy Kids Programs is hiring a School Age Childcare Assistant Site Director for our Before and After School Programs at our Frelinghuysen Elementary School in Newton, NJ location for the 2026–2027 school year. This role is ideal for individuals who love working with children, possess energy, kindness, and patience, and enjoy encouraging children's curiosity, creativity, and confidence. The position requires teamwork, effective communication with families, and a commitment to providing exceptional care. The schedule follows the school calendar, with morning program hours from 7:30 - 8:30 am and afternoon program hours from 3:15 - 6:15 pm. Opportunities may be available for morning, afternoon, or both programs. This is a Part-Time, Non-Exempt position.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent required.
  • 1–3 years of experience working with children in a school, childcare, camp, or youth program setting.
  • Able to pass required background and fingerprint clearances.
  • Calm, flexible, and resourceful in a fast-paced environment.
  • Focus on results, not excuses.

  • Empathy, professionalism, G-rated work environment.

Nice To Haves

  • Some college or early childhood coursework preferred.
  • Some experience in a lead or supervisory role preferred.
  • Familiarity with before- and after-school program environments a plus.
  • Knowledge of state childcare licensing or school-age care regulations helpful but not required.

Responsibilities

  • Ensure kids are engaged, safe, and having fun every day.
  • Ensure the program reflects Healthy Kids Programs’ model and families consistently choose to re-enroll.
  • Ensure the site is fully staffed every day with prepared and supported teachers.
  • Ensure the site operates in ratio at all times.
  • Maintain accurate and current records.
  • Ensure the program is ready for inspection on any given day.
  • Ensure the site is well-stocked with the supplies and materials teachers need.
  • Manage restocking of supplies before they run out.
