About The Position

Cantera Montessori School, a private boutique Montessori preschool located in Georgetown, Texas, is seeking an exceptional Assistant Head of School to help lead their growing campus community. This role is ideal for a motivated, organized, and compassionate leader passionate about early childhood education who thrives in a highly collaborative environment. The Assistant Head of School will partner closely with the Head of School to support the day-to-day operations of the campus, strengthen family relationships, and ensure classrooms and staff have the resources they need to succeed. The position involves both leadership and hands-on involvement, with responsibilities ranging from assisting with enrollment and onboarding to ensuring operational efficiency. Cantera Montessori emphasizes internal promotion and offers opportunities for career advancement within school leadership.

Requirements

Nice To Haves

  • Experience in a preschool, childcare, or educational setting.
  • Leadership or administrative experience strongly preferred.
  • Montessori experience or Montessori credentials are a significant plus.
  • Willingness to embrace Montessori philosophy and participate in Montessori training if needed.
  • ECE coursework completed or willingness to pursue required training.

Responsibilities

  • Partner with the Head of School to ensure smooth daily school operations.
  • Support and mentor teaching staff while fostering a positive team culture.
  • Build strong, trusting relationships with families and serve as a resource throughout their Montessori journey.
  • Assist with enrollment, family onboarding, scheduling, billing, and administrative processes.
  • Help coordinate staffing and classroom coverage as needed.
  • Ensure classrooms are fully equipped with the materials and resources necessary for success.
  • Support licensing compliance, safety procedures, and school policies.
  • Step in wherever needed—from classroom support and family communication to operational tasks that keep the school running efficiently.
  • Contribute to a culture of collaboration, professionalism, and continuous improvement.
