About The Position

Student Financial Support provides resources to help students pay for school, including Federal Financial Aid, State of Utah Aid, and Institutional Aid. The Student Money Management Center offers coaching sessions to help students create budgets and discover how they can pay for college. The Scholarship Team supports university programs that are large in size, scope, and complexities, which are embedded within enrollment management strategies at USU. All team members have responsibilities related to compliance, data privacy, integrity, and collaboration. The Scholarship Specialist I reports to the Assistant Director of Scholarships and is responsible for awarding institutional scholarships, including endowments and other aid programs. This position also serves a critical role in customer service and student support.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in business, finance, education, or a related field ; or equivalent advanced learning attained through experience.
  • 1 year of relevant work experience.

  • Familiarity with any of the following systems: Office 365 (specifically Excel), Banner, StudentForms, CampusCommunicator, ScholarshipUniverse, ServiceNow.

Responsibilities

  • Assist with customer service functions
  • Awarding and/or adjusting specific scholarships, including endowments and donor awards housed in Student Financial Support
  • Monitoring recipient academic progress
  • Scholarship auditing (checking for term utilization, qualification, etc.)
  • Review of daily outputs and reports
  • Assist with the university scholarship portal
  • Participate in on-going discussion to develop and streamline department policies and procedures
