About The Position

The University of Wisconsin–Platteville is seeking a Scholarship Coordinator to support all scholarship and fellowship activities. This position provides strategic oversight of scholarship and fellowship programs that support student recruitment, retention, and academic success. Serving as a primary point of contact for students navigating financial aid and scholarship options, the Scholarship Coordinator provides individualized guidance to help students understand and access funding opportunities throughout their enrollment. This is a full-time, 12-month, benefit and paid leave eligible position with a starting salary of $50,000 per year, commensurate with skills and experience.

Requirements

  • Associate's degree in a business-related field.
  • Minimum of two years of professional experience in financial aid, higher education, or a related field.
  • Strong interpersonal communication skills; the ability to actively listen, respond with empathy, and write various types of communication externally to students and parents, and internally to campus stakeholders.
  • Excellent customer-service skills.
  • Proficiency in the use of personal computer and current software applications, including, but not limited to the Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Strong analytical skills, with the ability to review and troubleshoot individual student financial aid files.

Responsibilities

  • Provides one-on-one financial aid and scholarship counseling to students, helping them understand eligibility requirements, application processes, renewal criteria, and how scholarships interact with other financial aid.
  • Advises students on financial aid options, including interpreting award letters, explaining satisfactory academic progress requirements, and helping students resolve holds or eligibility issues.
  • Serves as a front-line resource for student inquiries related to scholarships and financial aid, via email, phone, and in-person/virtual appointments.
  • Leads and develops strategy around the implementation and maintenance of scholarships and/or fellowships that accomplish recruitment and retention goals and meet stakeholder intent.
  • Implements scholarship/fellowship processes to meet established policies and strategic direction.
  • Works within the electronic scholarship and/or fellowship system to facilitate the application and awarding process.
  • Participates in and provides training and support for departments, programs, and students in use of the scholarship system and/or in fellowship and other funding options.
  • Builds strong relationships with campus and college partners, departments, targeted higher education institutions, and external partners to identify funding opportunities for students and ensure best practices in related activities.
  • Refers students to broader financial aid and financial literacy resources as needed, and collaborates with the Financial Aid team on cross-training to support a seamless student experience.
