This position supports Mercy's philosophy of patient centered care by performing coordination activities related to patient scheduling and performing tasks and support functions under the supervision of a licensed nurse. The Scheduling Coordinator for Hematology/Oncology is responsible for maintaining physician schedules, coordinating patient appointments for various services like infusions, scans, labs, and imaging, and ensuring all internal and external appointments are aligned. This role also involves educating patients on dietary restrictions, managing staff messages, running recall reports, scheduling new patient referrals and outreach clinics, sending necessary documentation to other providers, updating patient insurance information, completing patient estimates, and cross-covering front office positions as needed. The position requires excellent customer service skills, the ability to remain focused in stressful situations, manage multiple priorities, and work effectively in a team environment.
