About The Position

This is a full-time position responsible for communicating with patients and ENT staff to coordinate surgery scheduling. The role involves managing all aspects of surgical scheduling, from initial patient contact to ensuring all necessary paperwork and authorizations are completed and communicated to relevant parties.

Requirements

  • A minimum of an associate level of education either by degree or combination of experience and/or education in a medical related field or physician office.
  • Sufficient previous experience and ability to demonstrate effective scheduling and communication skills to comprehend, direct and apply policies and procedures in a professional manner.
  • Current BLS healthcare provider card.
  • Great attention to detail.
  • Ability to accurately type 40wpm and be efficient with data entry equipment.
  • Ability to apply appropriate rules of grammar, spelling and punctuation.
  • Knowledge of computers is a necessity.
  • Ability to prioritize activities, organize work and problem solve.
  • Communications skills both verbal and written must be above average to excellent.
  • Ability to communicate with public sector by telephone use and in person.
  • Ability to deal with anxious and angry people.
  • Ability to communicate with Administrative Staff, Managers, Attorneys, Physicians and all hospital staff with due respect and tact.
  • Understanding of confidentiality rules is a must without exception.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience with EMR software preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Coordinate surgical date with patient.
  • Obtain all appropriate insurance company authorizations.
  • Obtain PCP or appropriate medical clearances.
  • Prepare and complete all surgical paperwork.
  • Review surgical paperwork with patients, when possible.
  • Reschedule all surgeries as needed.
  • Review & return messages in electronic health record.
  • Complete workload in electronic health record.
  • Prepare all surgical paperwork for surgical technicians and PCP offices or outside/other physician offices.
  • Communicate with surgical facility to assure all aspects of surgical planning/scheduling/paperwork is successfully completed.
  • Observe and comply with all ENT personnel policies and procedures.
  • Communicate and interact effectively with patients and families, physicians, peers and other team members to maximize successful patient outcomes.
  • Maintain the confidentiality of patient and staff related information.
  • Follow compliance and safety requirements.
  • Other duties as assigned.
