About The Position

Avantor is seeking a Scheduler to perform planning and scheduling functions involved with coordinating products and materials through various production phases. The Scheduler will implement planned production schedules, labor loading and capacity requirements. They will also review schedules to determine materials and parts requirements to ensure materials are available according to schedules. This is a full-time position based out of our Carpinteria, CA office.

Requirements

  • High School diploma or equivalent.
  • 1-2 years SAP Experience.
  • Ability to read a bill of materials and assembly pick sheet.
  • Familiarity with warehouse and inventory management systems required.
  • Accuracy and thoroughness are required, with great attention to detail.
  • Working knowledge of procurement techniques, procedures, and policies.
  • Knowledge of raw materials, production processes, quality control, costs, and other techniques for maximizing the effective manufacture and distribution of goods.
  • Must possess strong interpersonal, oral, and written communication.
  • Skills in mathematics, personal computers (Excel) and spreadsheets are vital (pivot tables, lookups, formulas).
  • Ability to work independently to prioritize multiple competing tasks.

Nice To Haves

  • 1-2 years of similar supply-chain/logistics experience preferred.
  • 3-5 years QSS or WMS experience (preferred).
  • Warehouse equipment licenses (preferred).

Responsibilities

  • Create, monitor, collect and update progress on schedule for all equipment resources.
  • Main point of contact for site supply planning to support demand.
  • Create and maintain Bill Of Materials (BOM, NuSil Runsheets).
  • Master data creation and maintenance.
  • Coordinate with procurement, manufacturing and QA to resolve material issues.
  • Collaborate with MFG and materials management to ensure timely release of production orders and transfer requirements.
  • Manage scheduling for inter-site transfers (if applicable).
  • Establish demand planning time fences as well as policies for time fence management.
  • Collaborate with purchasing to expedite components.
  • Knowledge of performing cumulative lead time analysis.
  • Effectively communicate the operational perspective in cross-functional meetings.
  • Leads/Participates/Supports OPX programs and Manufacturing/Supply Chain Initiatives and related Goals.
  • In collaboration with purchasing and manufacturing, coordinate the delivery, assembly, and distribution of components and sub-assemblies to support production flow and adherence to Master Production Schedule (MPS).
  • Revise SAP in stock dates when required, collaborating with management, marketing, sales, customer service and production.
  • Provide estimated in stock dates based on component availability for make-to-order (MTO) manufactured items.
  • Responsible for coordination and procurement of purchase on demand print components.
  • Review documents, such as production schedules, work orders and Bills of Material, to determine materials requirements or material priorities.
  • Identifies overdue material and communicates with purchasing to expedite.
  • Collaborates with Forecasting & Inventory Planning and Purchasing on root cause analysis of perpetually past due material shortages.
  • Assist in trouble shooting of inventory control issues as they pertain to component availability for production.
  • Where necessary contact suppliers to verify shipment details.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.
  • Research order and delivery discrepancies.
  • Resolve MRP related issues.
  • Work closely with Customer Care regarding daily scheduling issues.
  • Monitors adherence to schedule; oversight of root cause directives to improve schedule adherence.
  • Create/Track supply chain metrics for site using listed metrics to ensure commitments are met.
  • Communicate results to key stakeholders.
  • Identifies/Leads process improvement opportunities, implementing best practices to achieve excellence in metrics specific to customers.
  • Escalate potential shortages before they affect production.
  • Support commercialization efforts in Area as it relates to planning and scheduling.
  • Identifies/Leads process improvement opportunities and implements lean best practices to achieve excellence in metrics specific to productivity and affordability.
  • Provide summary of asset loading (capacity leveling) to manufacturing.
  • Understand business impact; putting enterprise first, business units second and team third in this order.
  • Plan, order and keep track of raw material, Work In Process (WIP) and finished goods inventories.
  • Implement/Update policies and guidelines for supply chain activities.
  • Understand and apply different manufacturing environments (MTS, MTO, ATO).
  • Follow all applicable laws and regulations, acting as steward for the Company, Employees, Community and Environment.
  • Leads by example; Core Value compliance (SHE/PSM, Ethics, Respect for People, Critical to Operations (CTO), CT Safety, CT Quality, CT Process) and model the appropriate behavior. Where CTOs are: Operational Discipline, Balance of Consequences.
  • Mentor operations staff and schedulers on key workflows and standard of performance relating to planning and scheduling.
