About The Position

Canyon Vista Medical Center, part of Lifepoint Health, is seeking a Scheduler. This role is vital for making communities healthier by prioritizing patient well-being and providing exceptional care to others. As a Scheduler, you will be responsible for scheduling patient testing, procedures, and admissions, obtaining pre-certification/authorization, collecting accurate insurance information, and answering incoming phone calls. You will also communicate special instructions and testing requirements to patients or physician office staff. Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent Required or at least three years of directly related experience may be substituted for the required education.
  • Fluent in Spanish
  • Computer experience required.

Nice To Haves

  • Prior scheduling experience in a healthcare environment is strongly preferred.
  • Medical terminology, billing, and/or collection experience preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Schedules patient testing, procedures, and admissions; obtains pre-certification/authorization numbers and enters them into the scheduling or registration system; collects and enters accurate insurance information; and answers incoming phone calls.
  • Schedules patients for ancillary, surgical, and medical testing, procedures, and admissions, ensuring patients are not scheduled when personnel are unavailable.
  • Notifies patients or physician office staff of any out-of-network carriers or issues that may result in reduced benefits.
  • Communicates special instructions, testing requirements, and any other pertinent information or documents to patients or physician office staff.
  • Maintains awareness of next-day scheduling reports to ensure registration staff are prepared for arriving patients, appropriate testing is performed, time slots are available, and the necessary staff are scheduled.
  • Obtains physician orders and required authorization or pre-certification.
  • Enters outpatient procedures into the Order Entry System.
  • Ensures consistency between the scheduling module and the admissions module for patients being admitted for services.
