About The Position

Position Summary: Responsible for scheduling Interventional Imaging procedures using a computerized scheduling system. Coordinates scheduling between members, interventional radiologists, external providers, hospital staff, and outside vendors according to established scheduling protocols and policies. Collects, verifies and updates patient demographic and physician orders. Performs appointment scheduling and customer services duties. Transcribes the order in the system and verifies the charges by doing a charge reconciliation process.

Requirements

  • Equivalent to graduation from high school and one (1) year surgery scheduling experience or experience working in a physician office and performing scheduling activities.
  • Three (3) years of experience in a Surgery Clinic with at least One (1) year in a General Surgery and Bariatric Surgery Clinic.
  • Experience in insurance verifications and prior authorizations for General and Bariatric Surgery.
  • Knowledge of surgical procedures.
  • Knowledge of medical terminology.
  • Knowledge of hospital and departmental policies and procedures.
  • Knowledge of laws, rules and regulations governing area of assignment.
  • Knowledge of terminology used in area of assignment.
  • Knowledge of department and hospital safety practice and procedures.
  • Knowledge of patient rights.
  • Knowledge of age specific patient needs.
  • Knowledge of infection control policies and practices.
  • Knowledge of handling, storage, use and disposal of hazardous materials.
  • Knowledge of department and hospital emergency response policies and procedures.
  • Skill in dealing with physicians, patients and other employees.
  • Skill in customer service.
  • Skill in using a computerized scheduling system.
  • Skill in verifying claims, forms and applications according to laws and guidelines in area of assignment.
  • Skill in preparing technical and statistical reports.
  • Skill in performing technical, specialized, complex and difficult office support work.

  • Skill in setting priorities and meeting critical deadlines.
