About The Position

The Scheduler plays a critical role in ensuring the timely delivery of fit‑for‑purpose raw potatoes to the Carberry and Portage facilities. Reporting directly to the Field Manager with a dotted line to the AG Operations Lead, this role bridges Agriculture, Plant Operations, and Growers to align raw material quality and volume with production requirements. By leveraging McCain’s latest scheduling systems and data insights, the Scheduler supports operational excellence, food safety, and finished product quality across the Manitoba operations.

Requirements

  • Work experience in agriculture, manufacturing, supply chain, logistics, or a related field.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills with the ability to build and maintain cross‑functional and external partnerships.
  • Experience managing logistics and coordinating transportation activities.
  • Proven problem‑solving skills and the ability to make sound decisions under pressure.
  • Excellent command of English, both written and verbal.
  • Valid driver’s license and ability to travel between facilities and within the growing region.
  • Working knowledge of digital tools such as Excel, Power BI, and LLM‑enabled technologies.
  • Flexibility to work non‑standard hours periodically during abnormal or peak operational situations.

Responsibilities

  • Own the daily scheduling and supply of raw potatoes, ensuring alignment with production schedules and facility requirements.
  • Analyze raw material quality data and finished product needs using McCain scheduling and digital systems to deliver right‑raw to right‑SKU.
  • Serve as the key interface between plant operations, growers, and agricultural operations to achieve fit‑for‑purpose raw delivery.
  • Maintain accurate and effective potato quality, food safety, and inventory data systems.
  • Partner regularly with Production to review short‑ and long‑term raw quality and volume requirements.
  • Lead plant audits, mock recalls, and investigations related to AG‑attributed foreign material findings.
  • Own short‑term planning for inventory, potato usage, logistics, and raw quality throughout the year.
  • Lead sampling and reporting activities during the storage season and support long‑term pile management strategies.
  • Act as the primary contact for raw product transportation providers and manage short‑term logistics planning.
  • Promote safety excellence by modeling proper PPE use and machine safety, while supporting continuous improvement initiatives.
