About The Position

This role is responsible for maintaining accurate attendance records, tracking attendance points, and ensuring that attendance-related information is communicated appropriately and in alignment with company policies and the collective bargaining agreement. The Scheduler will review current scheduling practices and provide recommendations for scheduling efficiency, ensuring that the schedules produced are achievable and efficient. This position involves working closely with Driver Managers and union representatives to review attendance issues, apply attendance policies fairly and consistently, and support corrective action processes as needed. The Scheduler will utilize technological tools to manage correspondence related to call-outs, late arrivals, traffic conditions, and other circumstances affecting scheduling. Additionally, the role involves maintaining and updating DCS coding for accuracy and compliance, producing daily reports for operations management, and forecasting/monitoring events that may pose scheduling challenges to ensure adequate staffing coverage. The Scheduler ensures that the scheduling service provided aligns with client and Keolis policies, goals, and objectives, collaborating with team leaders, supervisors, and Driver Managers to determine staffing needs and resolve scheduling conflicts efficiently. The position also requires providing adequate notice of schedule changes or cancellations and creating/maintaining a scheduling database, critically analyzing daily schedules to improve on-time performance and productivity. Other duties may be assigned.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma required.
  • Must be at least 21 years of age.
  • Must currently possess an unexpired Commercial Driver’s License (CDL) class B with passenger endorsement or have the ability to obtain a CDL class B with passenger endorsement within 6 months of hire.
  • 2 years’ experience utilizing Microsoft Office Suite to include extensive use of Excel, Teams, Word, and Outlook required.
  • Must be able to read, write, and speak English fluently.
  • Strong oral and written communication skills required.
  • Ability to work in a high volume and fast-paced environment with minimal supervision.
  • High level of organization with the ability to multitask required.
  • Ability to review complex problems and recommend a viable solution.
  • Must be flexible and able to work varying hours that may include nights, weekends, and holidays.
  • Must maintain high level of confidentiality and the ability to maintain a professional demeanor at all times, including when working closely with union representatives on attendance and scheduling matters.

Nice To Haves

  • Prior experience working with unionized employees is a plus.
  • Knowledge of the Virginia, Maryland, and Washington, DC area is essential.
  • Knowledge of Trapeze software is desired, but not required.
  • Transit Experience is highly desired.

Responsibilities

  • Responsible for ensuring that the schedules produced are achievable and efficient.
  • Maintain and update attendance records for Bus Operators, including tracking attendance points in accordance with company policy and union contract requirements.
  • Work closely with Driver Managers and union representatives to review attendance issues, apply attendance policies fairly and consistently, and support corrective action processes as needed.
  • Utilize the full range of technological tools to manage phone and email correspondence related to call-outs, late arrivals, traffic conditions, and other circumstances that affect scheduling.
  • Maintain and update DCS coding to ensure accuracy, consistency, and compliance with current operational standards.
  • Produce daily reports to relay scheduling changes and/or challenges to the Operations Management team.
  • Forecast and monitor various events that may pose scheduling challenges to ensure adequate staffing coverage.
  • Responsible for ensuring that the scheduling service provided is in accordance with the client’s and Keolis’ policies and procedures.
  • Ensure schedules align with company goals and objectives.
  • Collaborate with team leaders, supervisors, and Driver Managers to determine staffing needs.
  • Resolve scheduling conflicts in a timely and efficient manner.
  • Provide adequate notice of any schedule changes or cancellations to the Operations Management team and Bus Operators affected.
  • Create and maintain scheduling database.
  • Critically analyze daily schedules to improve upon on-time performance and productivity.
