Requirements

  • Knowledge of medical insurance terminology
  • Computer skills for scheduling
  • Familiarity of general office procedures and equipment
  • Ability to deal with the public with professionalism and compassion in stressful situations
  • Ability to prevent, calm, or defuse irate callers and patients by working with them to identify concerns and properly directs calls
  • Ability to hear inquiries from patients, physicians, clients or staff
  • Ability to answer phone and speak with patients
  • Extensive knowledge of medical/radiology terminology
  • Minimum 3 years medical office/authorization/insurance experience
  • Positive, upbeat disposition with ability to multitask in fast-paced environment
  • Proficient in Word/Excel and EMR
  • Good organizational skills
  • High School Diploma or equivalent

Responsibilities

  • Arranging appointments for care
  • Providing exceptional customer service
  • Verifying insurance eligibility and ensuring that insurance requirements are met prior to delivery of service
  • Explaining financial requirements to the patients or responsible parties including authorization process and deductibles
  • Accurately processing all requests and documenting appropriate information within a time-sensitive environment
  • Dealing with the public with professionalism and compassion in stressful situations
  • Preventing, calming, or defusing irate callers and patients by working with them to identify concerns and properly directing calls
  • Hearing inquiries from patients, physicians, clients or staff
  • Answering phone and speaking with patients
