Scene Select Technician I
About The Position
The Scene Select Technician performs light restoration and quality-assurance editing on media being converted from home videos, film reels, and photos into digital formats. Working with Linux computers and customized in-house hardware and software, the technician uses a specialty program to segment scenes, merge or delete content, and clean converted files according to predetermined creative guidelines. The goal is to deliver clean, organized, segmented media to customers. The technician reviews order notes in a database to determine the appropriate workflow, handles customer-submitted digital content, and ensures data integrity and customer privacy. The role is full-time, 40 hours per week, with multiple shifts available. Overtime may be required at the manager’s discretion. Starting pay is $18 per hour, with eligibility for a pay increase every 90 days at the end of the quarter.
Requirements
- High school diploma or GED.
- At least 1 year of experience editing digital media; the posting specifies a minimum of 1–2 years.
- Comfort working within predetermined creative parameters.
- Experience with digital media and file formats such as MP4, MOV, AVI, DV, and MPEG.
- Ability to sit or stand at a computer consistently.
- Ability to lift up to 40 pounds without restriction.
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and demonstrate a sense of urgency.
- Clear and polite written and oral communication.
- Ability to accurately follow verbal and written instructions.
- Detail-oriented, positive attitude, and team-player qualities.
Nice To Haves
- Background in Super 8, 8mm, and/or 16mm motion film.
- Experience using Google Chrome, Gmail, and OpenOffice.
- Experience with editing software such as Adobe Premiere, Final Cut Pro, Photoshop, or Sony Vegas.
Responsibilities
- Lightly edit or sanitize digital content submitted by families.
- Perform scene segmentation, merging or deleting, and cleaning of converted files using an in-house specialty program.
- Convert home film reels, videos, and photos to digital formats using customized in-house hardware and software.
- Review order notes in the database and determine the appropriate workflow.
- Ensure data integrity and customer privacy.
- Keep the work area organized and clean.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
