About The Position

After formal receipt of raw materials, Scale Up weighs and measures (scales and stages) major and minor ingredients for production runs according to customer specifications. All products will be used according to First in – First Out (FIFO) rotations and allocations. The scaling of the product will be according to the production summary. Scale Up is responsible for recording all lot numbers allocated and monitoring usage. Ingredients will be scaled to maximize full bags or containers and minimize partial packages.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma/GED and/or two years related work experience
  • Must be able to maintain certification through an OSHA approved forklift certification
  • Knowledge of raw materials, production process
  • Knowledge of computers
  • Ability to arrange things or actions in a certain order or pattern according to a certain / specification
  • Ability to communicate effectively with others orally or in writing.

Responsibilities

  • During pre-campaign and production shift changeover work as part of the process team (QA Technician, Batcher, Driver and Bin Prep) to inspect the labeling, quantity, and quality of raw materials to ensure that standards and specifications are met.
  • Responsibility of the process team is to ensure collectively that batches are produced according to recipes and batching instructions while following Standard Operating Procedures.
  • Consistently weighs and measures (scales) in accordance with the production summary to meet customer specifications.
  • Responsible for the proper allocations for each ingredient as well as the quantity used from each container or each lot.
  • Responsible for the pre-staging of the pallets of major items such as spice, salt or sugar. Stages minor ingredient scale-ups and ensures they are clearly identified by name and weight and the item is sealed closed.
  • Understands ERP software programs.
  • Consistently confirms that the correct amount of ingredients is allocated and confirms that set-ups and kit items are properly staged.
  • Consistently monitors inventories. Completes material disposition form when material is scraped or damaged in process.
  • Contributes to the communications at shift changeovers and understands the information.
  • Adheres to and understands Safety programs.
  • Understands and uses current Good Manufacturing Practices to perform work.
  • Understands and uses the Standard Operating Procedures for the area.
