Requirements

  • All applicants must be at least 18 years of age.
  • Must be able to continuously lift product weighing up to 40 pounds.
  • Ability to exert maximum muscle force to push trees up to 2000 pounds on a regular basis.
  • Perform a task requiring continuous/repetitive movement, including grasping, pinching hands, flexing, and extending arms.
  • Stand on concrete and/or platforms for up to a 12-hour shift.
  • Work around animal blood and/or carcass parts.
  • Work with a knife (if trained).
  • Work in cold areas (approximately 20-40 degrees) and/or warm areas (over 100 degrees).
  • Work in an environment that is wet and humid.
  • Work while wearing a hard hat, hearing/eye protection, and steel-toed safety shoes.
  • Work in a noisy environment using personal protective equipment (PPE).
  • Work with sanitation/cleaning chemicals.
  • Work around strong smells/odors.
  • Climb/move on ladders, steps, stairways, walkways and platforms.
  • Bend, stoop, and twist repetitively over the course of an entire shift.
  • Walk long distances.
  • Some positions may require repetitive overhead lifting up to 30 lbs, single lifting of heavy objects which can weigh up to 60 lbs or lifting of objects using mechanical assistance.

Responsibilities

  • Work with hand tools, knives, machinery and other equipment to process meat products for the consumer.
  • Makes appropriate weight, temperature, time and other checks to ensure product quality is at standards set by management.
  • Completes all company-required paperwork to document periodic quality checks, to account for product produced and to provide other records as required by the company, such as entering information into ADC system.
  • Read schedule and calculate the correct tree count per product scheduled.
  • Check hanging inventory and lot availability to ensure the lots are scheduled to be packed and are approved to pack per food safety.
  • Check temperature of all products to make sure it is within the appropriate temperature guidelines allowed by food safety.
  • Communicate all information regarding product changes to Line Leads in a sufficient amount of time.
  • Ability to issue, manually issue and reverse product trees to production.
  • Assist Tree Strippers as needed.
  • Qualify as a tree pusher through classroom training as well as on the job training.
  • Operate Lowerator by following the appropriate procedure to ensure employee safety.
  • Continuously lift product weighing up to 40 pounds.
  • Use a stripper knife to open netting or bags on product.
  • Push trees up to 2000 pounds on a regular basis.
  • Check product for non-conformances per product specification.
  • Maintains yield by executing job tasks with minimal amount of waste.
  • Understand and follow oral and written instructions.
  • Perform a task requiring continuous/repetitive movement, including grasping, pinching hands, flexing, and extending arms.
  • Stand on concrete and/or platforms for up to a 12-hour shift.
  • Work around animal blood and/or carcass parts.
  • Work with a knife (if trained).
