About The Position

Interstate Waste Services (IWS) is seeking a Scale Operator for their Amsterdam, Ohio Landfill location. This role is crucial for managing the weighing of solid waste vehicles, processing payments, and ensuring the safety and security of the scale house and landfill operations. Requirements

• At least 18 years of age and legally eligible to work in the United States.
• High school/GED education completed.
• Minimum 2 years of warehouse environment experience.
• Working knowledge of general computer skills.
• Consistently capable of working independently to safely analyze and resolve problems.
• Fluency in English required.

Nice To Haves

• Higher education is a plus.
• Experience from the sanitation industry is strongly preferred.
• Experience working with scales is strongly preferred.
• Knowledgeable in the safe operation of all garage tools, diagnostic equipment, lifts, hoists, and jacking equipment.
• Spanish bilingual is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Weighing in and weight out solid waste vehicles from company drivers and third-party vendors/haulers.
• Serving as the first point of contact for drivers, customers, and other traffic at the scale house.
• Accurately calculating and processing payments, weights, and other measurements.
• Verifying incoming loads to ensure they do not contain unnecessary or inappropriate material.
• Performing various administrative tasks including regular filing, data entry, and reporting.
• Providing general upkeep of the scale house.
• Additional duties as assigned.
