About The Position

Wasco County Landfill, a Waste Connections company, is hiring a Scale House Cashier in The Dalles, Oregon. The position greets and directs customers and employees, weighs vehicles entering and leaving the landfill, calculates customer payments based on disposal weight, checks incoming loads for hazardous or inappropriate materials, and assists with office duties and projects. The role requires a friendly, service-oriented approach to employees, customers, and vendors. The schedule is Monday through Friday, with occasional Saturdays as needed. Shifts rotate weekly between 5:15 AM–2:30 PM and 6:30 AM–4:00 PM. The hourly wage is $21.00. Employment eligibility is dependent on a criminal background report and pre-employment drug panel screening; the role is identified as safety-sensitive.

Requirements

Ability to multitask in a fast-paced work environment.
Strong customer service skills.
Ability to operate a credit/debit card machine.
Ability to count cash drawers and balance the till at the end of each shift.
Proficiency with 10-key.
Flexible availability, including some Saturdays.
Employment eligibility is dependent on a criminal background report and pre-employment drug panel screening.

Nice To Haves

Understanding of Microsoft Word and Excel; training is available.
Proficiency in English and Spanish.

Responsibilities
