About The Position

The SBA Portfolio Administrator is responsible for the ongoing servicing, monitoring, and risk management of SBA loan portfolios, primarily focused on SBA 7(a) loans. This position ensures compliance with SBA Standard Operating Procedures (SOP), monitors loan performance, mitigates risk, and protects the SBA guaranty through proper servicing and documentation. The role works closely with borrowers, credit administration, underwriting, and senior management to proactively manage portfolio risk while delivering exceptional client service.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, Business, or related field preferred.
  • 3–7+ years of commercial loan servicing or portfolio management experience.
  • Direct experience with SBA 7(a) servicing strongly preferred.
  • Working knowledge of SBA SOP and E-Tran systems.
  • Experience handling workouts, modifications, and SBA purchase packages preferred.
  • Strong financial statement analysis skills.
  • Deep understanding of collateral documentation and lien perfection.
  • Knowledge of loan documentation and credit agreements.
  • Strong organizational time management skills, problem solving skills, and the ability to quickly grasp concepts and processes with limited guidance from management.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Must be able to work in a team environment with the ability to interact well, and in a positive manner, with co-workers and management.

Responsibilities

  • Manage a portfolio of SBA 7(a) and SBA 504 loans.
  • Monitor financial performance, covenant compliance, and collateral adequacy.
  • Review borrower financial statements and tax returns.
  • Identify early warning signs and proactively address potential credit deterioration.
  • Conduct annual reviews and risk rating updates.
  • Track insurance, UCC filings, life insurance assignments, and collateral documentation.
  • Ensure servicing actions comply with current SBA SOP guidelines.
  • Process servicing actions including deferments, modifications, assumptions, changes of ownership, collateral releases, and subordinations.
  • Prepare and submit servicing requests to SBA via E-Tran or appropriate channels.
  • Maintain documentation necessary to preserve the SBA guaranty.
  • Prepare loans for liquidation, workout, or SBA purchase when necessary.
  • Prepare and submit monthly 1502 reporting to FTA.
  • Manage past-due and adversely classified loans.
  • Coordinate workouts, restructures, and forbearance agreements.
  • Work with legal counsel and liquidation specialists as necessary.
  • Prepare SBA purchase packages and ensure timely submission.
  • Serve as primary point of contact for servicing-related borrower requests.
  • Communicate loan status and risk updates to management.
  • Partner with lenders, underwriters, and credit teams on servicing strategy.
  • Provide guidance on SBA eligibility and servicing requirements.
  • Maintain accurate loan files and tickler systems.
  • Prepare portfolio reports for senior management.
  • Assist in internal and SBA audits and examinations.
  • Ensure compliance with bank policies and regulatory requirements.
