About The Position
Amherst College is seeking a Saxophone Instructor for a part-time, casual position. The instructor will teach individual saxophone lessons on an hourly basis to students of all levels, from beginning to advanced. Lessons will be conducted in person on campus. The Music Department emphasizes integrating musical practice with scholarship, offering pathways for students to engage with music through performance, creation, analysis, ethnography, and history.
Requirements
- Robust record of teaching and professional performance experience.
- Master's degree in a related subject, or equivalent professional experience.
- Demonstrated experience working in and fostering a diverse faculty, staff, and student environment, or a commitment to do so.
- Required reference and background checks.
Responsibilities
- Teach individual saxophone lessons on an hourly basis.
- Support students from a variety of backgrounds and experiences at various levels of proficiency.
- Integrate musical practice with scholarship in teaching.
