About The Position

Smithers-Oasis is hiring a Saw Operator Level II at its Temprecision International facility in Hudson, Ohio. The role measures, cuts, and pieces foam according to specifications and required product mix, including setting up automatic horizontal saws. The operator is responsible for cut quality, equipment safety, production records, and maintaining a clean and safe work area. The position supports continuous improvement activities and the organization’s Core Values. This is a regular, full-time third-shift position. Typical hours are Monday through Thursday, 8:30 p.m. to 6:30 a.m. Overtime may be required based on business needs. Starting pay is $19.45 per hour, plus a $2.00 per hour shift differential. Applicants must pass a background check and drug screening after accepting an offer.

Requirements

Ability to read a ruler and interpret simple drawings, and perform simple arithmetic calculations involving decimals and fractions.
A minimum of 1–2 years of experience in a manufacturing environment.
Ability to follow detailed instructions and standard practices, use initiative, and apply some judgment and planning when choosing prescribed alternatives.
Ability to lift and manipulate foam buns weighing up to 100 pounds.
Ability to lift 30 pounds to shoulder height, carry 30 pounds at shoulder height for 8 feet, and stack.
Ability to perform considerable standing and walking, and constant bending, reaching, and stacking.
Ability to work in frequent exposure to dust and fumes, under workflow pressure and deadline peaks; extended hours may be required.

Responsibilities

Measure, cut, and piece foam according to specifications and required product mix, including setup of automatic horizontal saws.
Maintain responsibility for the quality of cuts.
Process promotional products and special cuts to orders.
Maintain saw safety and report malfunctions to Maintenance, the Production Technical Coordinator, and the Production Supervisor.
Change saw blades and perform preventive maintenance as required.
Operate production equipment as directed by the Leaders.
Complete and maintain required production records.
Keep records updated on how products are cut.
Maintain a clean and safe work area in accordance with established safety and cleaning procedures.
Inspect products continually and notify the Leader when quality is questionable.
Perform other duties as required.
Participate in and support Smithers-Oasis continuous improvement activities.
Support and lead by example the organization’s Core Values.
