About The Position

Smithers-Oasis is hiring a Saw Operator Level II at its Temprecision International facility in Hudson, Ohio. The role measures and cuts foam to specifications and product-mix requirements, including setting up automatic horizontal saws. The operator is responsible for cut quality, inspects products during production, and reports questionable quality or equipment malfunctions to the appropriate team members. The position also includes processing promotional and special cuts, changing saw blades, performing required preventive maintenance, operating production equipment, and maintaining production and cutting records. The operator keeps the work area clean and safe, follows established safety and cleaning procedures, supports continuous-improvement activities, and demonstrates the organization’s core values. Work is performed on a regular, full-time third shift, typically Monday through Thursday, 8:30 p.m. to 6:30 a.m. Overtime may be required based on business needs. Starting pay is $19.45 per hour, plus a $2.00-per-hour shift differential. Candidates who accept an offer must successfully pass a background check and drug screening.

Requirements

Ability to read a ruler.
Ability comparable to that needed to read and interpret simple drawings.
Ability to perform simple arithmetic, including calculations with decimals and fractions.
At least 1–2 years of experience in a manufacturing environment.
Ability to follow detailed instructions and standard practices, exercise some judgment and planning among prescribed alternatives, and show initiative.
Must be able to lift and manipulate foam buns weighing up to 100 pounds.
Must be able to lift 30 pounds to shoulder height, carry 30 pounds at shoulder height for 8 feet, and stack.
Ability to perform work involving considerable standing and walking, constant bending and reaching, and stacking.
Must successfully pass a background check and drug screening after accepting a job offer.

Responsibilities

Measure and cut foam to specifications and required product mix, including setting up automatic horizontal saws.
Ensure the quality of cuts and process promotional and special cuts to orders.
Maintain saw safety; report malfunctions to Maintenance, the Production Technical Coordinator, and the Production Supervisor.
Change saw blades and perform preventive maintenance as required.
Operate production equipment at the direction of the Leaders.
Complete and maintain assigned production records and keep records of how products are cut up to date.
Maintain a clean and safe work area according to established safety and cleaning procedures.
Continuously inspect products and notify the Leader if quality is questionable.
Perform other duties as required.
Participate in and support continuous-improvement activities.
Support and lead by example the organization’s core values.
