About The Position

The Saw Operator is responsible for operating various machinery to cut and prepare metal components according to specifications. This role requires attention to quality, safety, and maintaining an organized work environment. The operator will use measuring equipment and blueprints to ensure accuracy and will be responsible for material handling and inventory management.

Requirements

  • Ability to operate CNC cutoff saw, pencil grinders, disk grinders, cutoff wheels, hand drills, and tumblers.
  • Proficiency with basic measuring equipment such as calipers, steel rules, straightedge, and combination square.
  • Basic understanding of blueprints and tolerances.
  • Ability to cut sheet to proper length and angle.
  • Experience using an overhead crane for material handling.
  • Commitment to quality and safety.
  • Ability to maintain an organized and clean work area.
  • Ability to identify and report damaged or malfunctioning equipment/tooling.
  • Ability to maintain accurate inventory records and report low raw material levels.

Responsibilities

  • Operate CNC cutoff saw, pencil grinders, disk grinders, cutoff wheels, hand drills, and tumblers as needed.
  • Use basic measuring equipment such as calipers, steel rules, straightedge, and combination square to verify position of metal components.
  • Apply a basic understanding of blueprints and tolerances that relate to assigned tasks.
  • Cut sheet to proper length and angle.
  • Move raw material to the saw with the use of using overhead crane.
  • Work in a manner in which quality of work and safety while performing work are top priorities.
  • Keep work area organized and as clean as possible while working and clean up all tooling, machinery and work area when finished with each job.
  • Notify direct supervisor of any equipment or tooling that is damaged or not working properly.
  • Maintain accurate inventory and notify supervisor when raw material is low.
