About The Position

The Saw Operator I sets up and operates a single-blade saw, reads production scheduling sheets, and identifies the material needed for each operation. The operator checks materials and finished products against quality standards, follows safety and quality procedures, completes required production records, and performs preventive maintenance as specified. The role also involves keeping the work area and equipment safe, clean, and organized; completing pre-shift equipment inspections; reporting problems or concerns; and participating in safety, continuous improvement, and other programs and meetings. Other duties may be assigned.

Requirements

Must be at least 18 years of age.
Minimum of 3 months of experience using saws or similar equipment.

Nice To Haves

High school diploma or GED is preferred but not required.
Some experience in manufacturing and assembling is preferred.
Working knowledge of basic math is preferred.

Responsibilities

Read production scheduling sheets and identify the material required for the operation.
Ensure material meets quality specifications, including grade, size, and moisture content.
Set up the saw according to specifications.
Feed material according to specifications.
Periodically check equipment to ensure specifications are being met.
Offload and stack material according to established procedures; cover, label, and band components or finished products when required.
Keep the work area clean, orderly, and safe, and ensure equipment is safe to operate.
Complete the pre-shift equipment inspection checklist and report problems or concerns.
Maintain production records as required.
Check materials and finished products for compliance with standards.
Follow established safety and quality procedures, rules, and standards.
Perform lockout/tagout (LOTO) as required.
Perform preventive maintenance as specified.
Participate in safety, continuous improvement, and other programs and meetings.
Perform other duties as assigned.
