About The Position

The Saw Operator operates and maintains saw equipment in a fabrication shop to cut stone and other materials accurately according to specifications. The role involves inspecting materials, making precise cuts, and maintaining equipment in line with established protocols, while supporting production schedules and meeting safety, quality, and efficiency standards. The operator sets up and adjusts machinery for job requirements, monitors performance, and makes adjustments to maintain quality. They inspect slabs and materials for defects, ensure finished cuts meet specifications and customer requirements, and use knowledge of material characteristics to optimize cutting and minimize waste. The role also includes routine equipment maintenance and cleaning, identifying and reporting equipment issues, supporting material handling and workflow, and maintaining an organized work area. The operator collaborates with team members and may support less experienced operators.

Requirements

High school diploma or GED.
At least 1 year of experience operating saws or similar machinery in a manufacturing or fabrication environment.
Ability to operate and maintain saw machinery and related fabrication equipment.
Strong understanding of material properties and defect identification.
Mechanical aptitude and basic equipment troubleshooting skills.
Attention to detail and focus on precision and quality standards.
Ability to follow production schedules and meet output targets.
Strong communication skills and ability to work effectively in a team environment.
Ability to learn and become cross-trained on multiple machines.
Ability to stand, walk, bend, and stoop for extended periods (8+ hours).
Ability to lift and move materials weighing 50+ lbs.
Ability to work in a manufacturing or fabrication environment with exposure to noise and dust.

Provide guidance or support to less experienced operators when applicable.
Maintain a clean and organized work area.
Perform other duties as assigned to support production operations.
