About The Position

Boeing Defense, Space, and Security (BDS) seeks a Satellite Systems Engineer to serve as Global Positioning System (GPS) Satellite Bus Systems Engineer to join their Intelligence & Weapon Systems (SI&WS) division and support the GPS sustainment program located at Schriever Space Force Base, near Colorado Springs. The role involves supporting the GPS sustainment program, which monitors the health and capabilities of GPS Block IIF satellites. Boeing has a long history with GPS, dating back over 45 years. The current team supports the U.S. Space Force by sustaining and monitoring the 12 GPS Block IIF satellites, launched between 2010 and 2016. Sustainment efforts are expected to continue through the life of these satellites, with a design life expectancy to 2031 and beyond, under a 10-year contract from 2022 to 2031. As a GPS Satellite Bus Systems Engineer, you will be a key member of a high-performing team working on critical projects related to the GPS IIF satellite constellation. You will train to become a subject matter expert for satellite Bus subsystems on the GPS Block IIF satellites, focusing on GPS performance trending and analysis. You will also collaborate with spacecraft payload and secondary payload subject matter experts and interact daily with U.S. Space Force personnel from the 2 Navigation Warfare Squadron who command satellites and perform satellite performance trending and analysis.

Requirements

  • Active (interim or final) secret or above U.S. Security Clearance for which the U.S. Government requires U.S. Citizenship. (A U.S. Security Clearance that has been active in the past 24 months is considered active.)
  • 1+ years of related experience.
  • Systems engineering or related experience.
  • If not already within commuting distance of the Schriever SFB, willingness and ability to relocation at own expense.
  • Bachelor of Science degree in Engineering, Engineering Technology (including Manufacturing Technology), Computer Science, Data Science, Mathematics, Physics, Chemistry or non-US equivalent qualifications directly related to the work statement.
  • Ability and willingness to work occasional compensated onsite support outside of typical business hours.
  • Expect infrequent alternating 24/7 on-call responsibilities for satellite anomalies and operational events.
  • Must meet U.S. export control compliance requirements. To meet U.S. export control compliance requirements, a “U.S. Person” as defined by 22 C.F.R. §120.62 is required. “U.S. Person” includes U.S. Citizen, U.S. National, lawful permanent resident, refugee, or asylee.
  • This position requires the ability to obtain a U.S. Security Clearance for which the U.S. Government requires U.S. Citizenship. An interim U.S. Secret Clearance Pre-Start and final U.S. Secret Clearance Post-Start is required.
