About The Position

Boeing Defense, Space, and Security (BDS) seeks a Satellite Systems Engineer to serve as Global Positioning System (GPS) Satellite Bus Systems Engineer to join their Intelligence & Weapon Systems (SI&WS) division and support the GPS sustainment program. This role is located at Schriever Space Force Base, near Colorado Springs. The GPS program is a satellite-based radio-navigation system providing global positioning, navigation, and timing (PNT) data. Boeing has a long history with GPS, currently supporting the U.S. Space Force by sustaining and monitoring the health and capabilities of 12 GPS Block IIF satellites. This sustainment effort is expected to continue through the life of the satellites, potentially beyond 2031, under a 10-year contract from 2022 to 2031. As a Satellite Bus Systems Engineer, you will be a key member of a team focused on critical projects related to the GPS IIF satellite constellation. You will train to become a subject matter expert for satellite Bus subsystems on the GPS Block IIF satellites, as well as for GPS performance trending and analysis. You will collaborate with spacecraft payload and secondary payload subject matter experts and interact daily with U.S. Space Force personnel responsible for commanding satellites and performance trending and analysis.

Requirements

  • Active (interim or final) secret or above U.S. Security Clearance for which the U.S. Government requires U.S. Citizenship. (A U.S. Security Clearance that has been active in the past 24 months is considered active.)
  • 1+ years of related experience.
  • Systems engineering or related experience.
  • If not already within commuting distance of the Schriever SFB, willingness and ability to relocation at own expense.
  • Bachelor of Science degree in Engineering, Engineering Technology (including Manufacturing Technology), Computer Science, Data Science, Mathematics, Physics, Chemistry or non-US equivalent qualifications directly related to the work statement.

Responsibilities

  • Provide real-time support to on-orbit GPS satellite operations, including investigation of and resolution of satellite anomalies.
  • Train to become a subsystem Subject Matter Expertise (SME) in assigned subsystems.
  • Interface with Operations Customer as subsystem SMEs.
  • Write technical reports.
  • Support and initiate process and documentation improvement.
  • Support Spacecraft Command Processor and Mission Planning responsibilities.
