About The Position

Tutor Doctor Chandler-Gilbert-Ahwatukee is hiring SAT and ACT tutors to provide personalized in-home and online test preparation across Arizona’s East Valley, including Chandler, Gilbert, Ahwatukee/South Phoenix, Tempe, Mesa, and nearby communities. Tutors work one-on-one with students to help them prepare for exams, improve scores, and build confidence. Instruction is tailored to each student’s score goals, weak areas, learning style, and pace.

Tutors choose their preferred subjects, cities, travel radius, and availability. A local team matches tutors with students and handles client acquisition, billing, family communication, scheduling coordination, and administrative logistics. Tutors receive student notes, assessments, instructional resources, and ongoing support while maintaining professional autonomy. The role offers opportunities to build meaningful, long-term relationships with students.

Compensation is $20–$35 per hour, with rates up to $40 per hour for select students and specialized assignments. Performance bonuses are tied to student satisfaction, reliability, and other performance criteria. Pay is semi-monthly.

Requirements

• Current college enrollment or a completed college degree.
• Strong command of SAT and/or ACT content areas, including math, reading, writing, and science reasoning.
• Background as a teacher, education professional, or test prep specialist.
• High personal scores on AP exams, the SAT, or the ACT.
• Ability to adapt instruction to different learning styles and pacing needs.
• Reliability, professionalism, and consistent follow-through.
• Reliable transportation for in-home tutoring assignments.
• Understanding of testing and pacing strategies.

Responsibilities

• Provide one-on-one SAT and/or ACT test preparation in students’ homes or online.
• Adapt instruction to students’ learning styles, pacing needs, score goals, and areas for improvement.
• Help students prepare for exams, improve their scores, and build confidence.
• Use testing and pacing strategies and available practice problems and tests.
• Maintain reliability, professionalism, and consistent follow-through with students and families.
