SAT/ACT Language Teacher, Upward Bound Program
About The Position
Wilkes University is seeking a part-time, temporary SAT/ACT Language Teacher for its Upward Bound Program. This federally funded TRIO Program aims to support high school students in career exploration, college preparation, and higher education pursuits. The teacher will be responsible for the academic component, focusing on preparing 11th-grade students for the English, Reading, and Writing sections of the SAT and ACT. This involves reviewing test sections and Pre-ACT scores, teaching effective test-taking strategies, identifying areas for improvement, and guiding students on how to prepare and study for these exams. The role also includes providing supplemental support in reading comprehension, grammar, writing, and other language skills to boost student confidence and performance.
Requirements
- Current knowledge and experience with both the SAT and ACT are required.
- Bachelor's degree in Education, English, and/or a related field is preferred.
- Experience working with high school students or in a college-preparatory program is preferred.

Responsibilities
