About The Position

Wilkes University is seeking a part-time, temporary SAT/ACT Language Teacher for its Upward Bound Program. This federally funded TRIO Program aims to support high school students in career exploration and college preparation. The teacher will be responsible for implementing the academic component, focusing on preparing 11th-grade students for the English, Reading, and Writing sections of the SAT and ACT. This includes reviewing test sections and scores, teaching test-taking strategies, identifying areas for improvement, and guiding students on effective study methods. Supplemental instruction in reading comprehension, grammar, writing, and other language skills will be provided to enhance student confidence and performance on college entrance exams.

Requirements

  • Current knowledge and experience with both the SAT and ACT are required.
  • Bachelor's degree in Education, English, and/or a related field is preferred.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience working with high school students or in a college-preparatory program is preferred.

Responsibilities
