About The Position

The SAP Internship Experience Program (iXp) is SAP’s global, strategic, paid internship program that provides university students with opportunities to find purpose in their careers. This is more than an internship; it’s the foundation for a career built on connection, creativity, and impact. The SAP Globalization iXp Intern – Software Developer will work on Globalization Services’ AI-driven automation platform, supporting next-generation Spec-to-Content and Knowledge Graph initiatives. You will work on real production services and help build intelligent automation capabilities that support SAP’s global localization and compliance processes. During the internship, you will contribute to software engineering activities across backend, frontend, data, and AI-enabled automation components. You will work as part of a cross-functional engineering team that includes senior developers and architects, product owners from globalization domains, and engineering colleagues working on SAP BTP, AI automation, and Knowledge Graph initiatives. You will receive structured support throughout the internship, including a dedicated mentor, weekly 1:1 guidance, code reviews, architectural walkthroughs, and access to training resources for SAP BTP, CAP, OData, GitHub, AI/ML, and Knowledge Graph technologies. Opportunities to participate in engineering syncs, demos, and technical deep dives are also provided. SAP Globalization Services is where deep technical engineering meets real-world global impact. As an intern, you will contribute to modern engineering initiatives inside one of the world’s largest enterprise software companies while gaining exposure to AI automation, cloud-native development, Knowledge Graphs, and enterprise-scale localization processes. You will participate in real releases, work with experienced mentors, and build skills that prepare you for a future career in enterprise software engineering.

Requirements

  • Currently pursuing a Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Information Systems, Data Science, or a related technical field.
  • Hands-on experience with at least one programming language such as Python, Java, or JavaScript.
  • Hands-on experience with AI/ML development, including practical exposure to machine learning concepts, generative AI, embeddings, or LLM-based application development.
  • Familiarity with SQL and database design principles.
  • Exposure to Git, GitHub, or similar source control systems.
  • Strong understanding of the software development lifecycle, including development, testing, debugging, deployment, and maintenance.
  • Strong debugging and problem-solving skills.
  • A curious and agile mindset, with a passion for learning and the resilience to adapt in a fast-paced, evolving environment.
  • Strong problem-solving and creative thinking skills, with the ability to collaborate across teams and communicate ideas clearly and effectively.
  • Emotional intelligence and cultural awareness that support inclusive teamwork and thoughtful stakeholder engagement.
  • A growing foundation in business acumen and emerging technologies—especially artificial intelligence—paired with a results-oriented approach and the courage to take initiative.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience with SAP BTP, CAP, OData, or enterprise application development.
  • Familiarity with cloud-native application development.
  • Exposure to CI/CD pipelines or automated testing.
  • Basic understanding of ABAP concepts or SAP configuration content processes.

Responsibilities

  • Implementing high-quality, maintainable code in Python, Java, and/or JavaScript.
  • Building backend and frontend components that integrate with SAP Business Technology Platform, AI/ML services, and enterprise data sources.
  • Contributing to SAP’s internal Knowledge Graph capabilities using RDF, SPARQL, and related technologies.
  • Supporting database schema design, data ingestion pipelines, and integration workflows across SAP systems.
  • Participating in unit testing, debugging, CI/CD pipelines, code reviews, and pair programming with senior engineers.
  • Documenting code, design decisions, and technical artifacts for long-term maintainability.
