SAP ILM Technical Architect
About The Position
The SAP ILM Technical Architect will lead the design and execution of SAP Information Lifecycle Management architecture for an SAP BRIM archiving project. The role owns architecture decisions and supports compliance alignment and stakeholder engagement. It involves working with SAP BRIM and SAP S/4HANA landscapes, functional and technical teams, and BASIS teams. The posting describes the role as remote, while also referring to an onsite (US remote) model. The architect will define data archiving and retention strategies, lead ILM configuration and technical design, support archiving readiness and execution, and ensure alignment with privacy, legal hold, retention, and audit requirements. The role also provides technical leadership and supports cutover, go-live, and post-archiving validation.
Requirements
- Strong hands-on experience as an SAP ILM Technical Architect.
- Proven expertise in SAP ILM architecture design, data archiving, and retention management.
- Solid understanding of SAP BRIM and SAP S/4HANA data models.
- Experience working on large-scale archiving or system lifecycle management projects.
- Strong knowledge of compliance, audit, data privacy, and legal retention requirements.
- Excellent stakeholder communication and technical leadership skills.
- Typically 10–12+ years of overall SAP experience with deep ILM specialization.
Nice To Haves
- Experience with SAP ILM Store, Retention Management, and Legal Hold.
- Exposure to SAP BRIM modules, including FICA, CI, and Convergent Mediation.
- Experience in regulated or audit-driven enterprise environments.
- Ability to work effectively in onsite–offshore delivery models.
Responsibilities
- Design and own the SAP ILM architecture for BRIM data archiving and retention.
- Define archiving strategy, data objects, retention rules, and lifecycle policies aligned with business and compliance requirements.
- Lead ILM configuration and technical design, including object selection, rule assignment, and data flow design.
- Work with SAP BRIM, S/4HANA, functional, technical, and BASIS teams to support implementation.
- Support data readiness, mock runs, validation, and production execution of archiving activities.
- Ensure adherence to data privacy, legal hold, retention, and audit requirements.
- Identify and mitigate technical risks related to data volume, performance, and system stability.
- Provide technical leadership and guidance to development and support teams.
- Prepare and maintain architecture documents, technical designs, and runbooks.
- Support cutover, go-live, and post-archiving validation activities.
