About The Position

Ness is seeking a SAP developer with practical ABAP knowledge and experience on SAP projects. The team builds applications for areas such as production planning, scheduling, and finance, and develops new applications as well as features, processes, and integrations for existing systems. Candidates with completed projects can continue their work alongside more experienced colleagues; developers who already work independently may take ownership of technical design and a defined application area.

The role involves programming in ABAP and ABAP OO, developing backend and SAP GUI applications, and—depending on the developer’s focus—working with SAP Fiori/SAPUI5, CDS, OData, and integrations. Developers collaborate with functional consultants from requirements clarification and technical approach selection through testing and deployment. Work also includes modernizing customer code for S/4HANA and occasionally analyzing and improving performance. The team works together on individual components and does not expect every developer to know all listed technologies.

The company is a smaller team closely connected with functional consultants. Projects evolve while customer relationships are often long-running. Work is split between new applications and significant enhancements to existing ones, with some support for selected customers. The team is based in Prague and Ostrava, with remote work possible and occasional in-person meetings. Cooperation is offered as HPP (Czech employment contract). Current work is primarily with SAP ECC and on-premise S/4HANA, with an ambition to expand development toward SAP Public Cloud.

Requirements

• Practical experience with ABAP and familiarity with ABAP OO.
• Knowledge of SQL and relational database principles.
• Ability to read other people’s code, use a debugger, and identify errors.
• Ability to write clear code and thoroughly verify changes.
• Ability to explain technical designs and collaborate with colleagues.
• English skills for communication and working with documentation.

Nice To Haves

• Knowledge of ABAP CDS and RAP.
• Knowledge of SAP Fiori, SAPUI5, JavaScript/TypeScript, and OData.
• Experience with integration interfaces.
• Familiarity with ABAP Cloud and Clean Core principles.
• Experience with SAP BTP, CAP (Node.js or Java), or SAP Integration Suite.

Responsibilities

• Program in ABAP and ABAP OO, creating new applications and making significant enhancements to existing ones.
• Work on backend and SAP GUI applications and, depending on focus, SAP Fiori/SAPUI5, CDS, OData, and integrations.
• Collaborate with functional consultants to clarify requirements, select technical approaches, test, and deploy solutions.
• Modernize customer code and adapt it for S/4HANA.
• Occasionally analyze and optimize performance by systematically investigating causes.
• Depending on experience, contribute to technical decisions and take responsibility for a defined area of an application.
