SAP BDC Data Architect
About The Position
SAP is seeking an innovative, detail-oriented SAP BDC Data Architect in Houston, United States. The role designs, develops, and optimizes enterprise data architecture solutions using SAP Batch Data Communication (BDC), collaborating with cross-functional teams on data integration, migration, and management across complex systems while maintaining data integrity and governance. The architect translates business processes and requirements into scalable data solutions, architecture models, technical specifications, and implementation plans. The position also supports data quality, governance, security, compliance, performance optimization, and the development of team capability through technical guidance and mentoring. Requirements
- At least 5 years of professional experience with SAP BDC development and data architecture design.
- Advanced proficiency in SAP systems, including comprehensive module knowledge and system integration capabilities.
- Strong expertise in data modeling, ETL processes, and enterprise data warehousing solutions.
- Experience with SQL, relational database management systems, and data integration tools.
- Proficiency in a scripting language such as ABAP or Python for automation and data processing.
- Understanding of data governance frameworks, data quality management, and compliance requirements.
- Experience leading or participating in large-scale data migration and system implementation projects.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, including the ability to translate business needs into technical solutions.
Responsibilities
- Design and architect scalable data solutions using SAP BDC that align with business requirements and enterprise standards.
- Develop and optimize BDC scripts and programs to automate data migration, validation, and integration.
- Analyze business processes and translate them into data architecture models and technical specifications.
- Collaborate with SAP consultants, business analysts, and IT teams to implement data solutions.
- Create and maintain data architecture documentation, including data flow diagrams, entity-relationship models, and system integration maps.
- Assess data quality and implement governance frameworks to support accuracy, consistency, and regulatory compliance.
- Troubleshoot data-related issues, identify root causes, and implement preventive measures.
- Monitor system performance and optimize BDC processes to improve efficiency, processing time, and reliability.
- Stay current with SAP updates, industry best practices, and emerging data architecture technologies.
- Provide technical guidance and mentoring to junior team members on data architecture and SAP BDC implementation.
- Maintain data security and privacy standards throughout architecture initiatives and implementations.
- Lead performance tuning and optimization efforts.
