About The Position

We are seeking a motivated SAP BASIS / AWS Junior Engineer to support a large-scale ERP modernization initiative within a highly regulated federal environment. This role provides foundational technical support for an SAP S/4HANA landscape hosted in AWS, focusing on system monitoring, basic administration, and incident response to ensure overall system stability and performance. This is a 75% remote position with approximately 25% quarterly travel to the Washington, DC metro area. Per our Federal Government Contract, candidates must be U.S. Citizens with an Active Secret Clearance.

Requirements

  • U.S. Citizenship required with an Active Secret Clearance or higher
  • 1–3+ years of experience in SAP BASIS administration or general IT systems administration (Linux/Windows)
  • Basic understanding of AWS cloud services and infrastructure (e.g., EC2, S3, CloudWatch)
  • Familiarity with SAP architecture (NetWeaver) and interest in learning S/4HANA and HANA database support
  • Working knowledge of Linux command line and system navigation
  • Strong attention to detail and ability to follow technical procedures and instructions
  • Effective communication skills and ability to escalate issues appropriately
  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience preferred

Nice To Haves

  • Experience with ticketing systems (e.g., ServiceNow, Jira) is a plus
  • Experience in a federal or highly regulated environment preferred
  • Understanding of security best practices, including least-privilege access, is a plus

Responsibilities

  • Perform daily system monitoring using SAP and AWS tools to ensure availability, performance, and system health
  • Monitor AWS infrastructure, including EC2 instances, EBS volumes, and S3 backups
  • Support user and print administration activities, including user maintenance and spool management
  • Execute transport management processes (STMS) in accordance with change control procedures
  • Assist with SAP HANA database monitoring, including disk space, alerts, and backup validation
  • Support system maintenance activities, including SAP Notes, kernel updates, and support package implementations
  • Serve as the first line of technical support for system issues, documenting and escalating as needed
  • Assist with system refresh and copy activities, including post-refresh configuration steps
  • Maintain technical documentation, system diagrams, and standard operating procedures
  • Collaborate with senior engineers and technical teams to support ongoing system operations and improvements
