About The Position

Auto-Owners Insurance is seeking an SAP ABAP Software Developer to join its IT Division. The role develops, maintains, and supports software applications for new and existing systems. After initial in-person training, the position may allow work from home up to three days per week based on job responsibilities; it is not fully remote, and the candidate must be able to work in the Lansing, Michigan office.

Requirements

Working knowledge of the ABAP programming language and SAP development environment.
Aptitude and desire for software development, demonstrating initiative.
Ability to learn and effectively use tools and software development techniques practiced, acquired, or adopted within the Division.
Ability to work in the U.S. without current or future sponsorship.
Ability to work in the Lansing, Michigan office.

Nice To Haves

A bachelor's degree in computer science, information systems, information technology, management information systems, math, a related field, or equivalent experience is preferred.
Experience with Eclipse ADT, ABAP RESTful Application Programming Model, Core Data Services, and OData.
Exposure to Reports, Forms, Classic Dynpro, SAP Fiori, and table development.

Responsibilities

Define, develop, test, analyze, and maintain software programs and applications.
Participate in code and design reviews and brainstorming sessions.
Develop program and system documentation.
Analyze and fix software errors in a timely and accurate manner.
Consult with users, architects, project leaders, and management to resolve problems and suggest alternatives.
