About The Position

Auto-Owners Insurance is seeking a motivated SAP ABAP Software Developer to join its IT Division. The role develops, maintains, and supports software applications for new and existing systems. After initial in-person training, the position may allow work from home up to three days per week based on job responsibilities. It is not fully remote; candidates must be able to work in the Lansing, Michigan office.

Requirements

• Working knowledge of the ABAP programming language and SAP development environment.
• Aptitude and desire for software development, demonstrating initiative.
• Ability to learn and effectively use tools and software development techniques as practiced, acquired, or adopted within the Division.
• Ability to work in the United States without current or future sponsorship.
• Ability to work in the Lansing, Michigan office.

Nice To Haves

• A bachelor's degree in computer science, information systems, information technology, management information systems, math, a related field, or equivalent experience is preferred.
• Experience with Eclipse ADT, ABAP RESTful Application Programming Model, Core Data Services, and OData.
• Exposure to Reports, Forms, Classic Dynpro, SAP Fiori, and table development.

Responsibilities

• Define, develop, test, analyze, and maintain software programs and applications.
• Participate in code and design reviews and brainstorming sessions.
• Develop program and system documentation.
• Analyze and fix software errors in a timely and accurate fashion.
• Consult with users, architects, project leaders, and management to resolve problems and suggest alternatives.
