About The Position

This position is for a Sanitization Specialist/Ware Washer at the Upper DeBot Dining Center. It is a student hourly position that accepts both work-study and regular pay applicants. The role is responsible for ensuring all china, glassware, and silverware are properly cleaned, washed, and sanitized in a timely manner, and maintaining a sufficient supply of clean items for meal service. Weekend shifts are required. The position also involves attending mandatory staff meetings, completing required online trainings, and adhering to university and department policies.

Requirements

  • Must be able to work a minimum of 8 hours per week.
  • Ability to lift pans weighing up to 40# between production area and carts.
  • Ability to bend, stoop, twist and lift weighing up to 60# when storing, stocking and gathering prepared products and/or inventory items.
  • Ability to stand and walk on hard floors for extended hours.
  • Must be at least a part-time student (enrolled in at least 6 undergraduate or 5 graduate credits).
  • Must be in good academic standing (cumulative and semester GPAs of 2.0 or higher).
  • Must pass a criminal background check.
  • Must pass all UWSP mandatory trainings along with department-specific (food handling) trainings as part of their employment onboarding.

  • Authorization to work within the United States as required by the Immigration Reform and Control Act of 1986.

Responsibilities

  • Ensuring that all china, glassware, and silverware are properly cleaned, washed, and sanitized in a timely manner.
  • Ensuring that a proper supply of clean china and utensils are delivered to the front of house during meal service.
  • Pulling and sorting smallwares from the carousel in preparation for cleaning.
  • Sorting and staging silverware for cleaning and delivery.
  • Keeping the work area free of clutter and organized.
  • Scraping, washing, rinsing, and sanitizing pots, pans, and utensils using the sink and washing machine.
  • Loading and unloading the dish machine.
  • Maintaining a clean and dry floor throughout the shift.
  • Delivering clean items to various concepts throughout the facility.
  • Assisting in the cleaning of the carousel, dishwasher, pulper, sink, wash machine, walls, and floors at the end of meal periods.
  • Attending mandatory staff meetings.
  • Completing University Dining Orientation Canvas Page and Mandatory Trainings (Mandated Reporter and Information Security courses) upon hiring and before the first shift.
  • Being held accountable and abiding by the policies outlined in the University Dining Student Employment Handbook and any department-specific policies, procedures, and expectations.
  • Performing other duties as assigned by the Management Team.
