About The Position

This position is integral to the success of the organization. Equipment and facilities services must operate at an optimum level to ensure that quality product is delivered to our customers. Sanitation contributes to the recurring upkeep and ongoing sanitation of plant equipment. In addition to providing daily janitorial cleaning necessary for proper appearance and function of the facility. Provides ongoing sanitation to the facilities, offices, breakrooms, rest rooms and outside grounds.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or GED, and 1+ years work experience preferably in a manufacturing environment
  • Read, write, speak, and comprehend English
  • Comprehend basic math: addition, subtraction, multiplication, division, weights and measures, and efficient use of a calculator
  • Ability to communicate both written and orally within the organization
  • Ability to safely use hand and power tools applicable to the tasks
  • Positive suggestions to improve operations in the work center
  • Team Oriented - being helpful, respectful, approachable, building strong working relationships and a positive work environment, is responsible, honest, loyal, interacts with others tactfully, resolves conflicts appropriately and adapts to change
  • Basic mechanical skills to disassemble and reassemble sanitation equipment

  • Ability to stand and walk for extended periods and regularly perform physical tasks such as pushing, pulling, lifting, climbing, bending, stooping, squatting, and using hands for detailed tasks
  • Physically capable of performing tasks such as lifting, climbing, and using hand and power tools, including pallet jacks, scales, ladders, and standard material handling and cleaning equipment
  • Capable of safely lifting up to 50 pounds frequently throughout the day; ability to handle heavier items with proper lifting equipment or team-assisted techniques to ensure safety
  • Follow Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP’s), allergen control, food defense, HACCP, SQF, and regulatory requirements so that we make consistently safe, quality products.
  • Ensure the presence of visitors, contractors, and customers are documented on each visit in and out of the facility to maintain good manufacturing practices, allergen controls, food defense/food security and HACCP controls.
  • Report all food safety and quality issues to management immediately.
  • Partner with colleagues across all functions to share knowledge, skills, and information regarding quality and food safety.
  • Adhere to all health and safety work practices.
  • Exhibit an understanding of quality and food safety standards and be able to speak about the Finlays quality and food safety system and your role in it.
  • Handle customer complaints in a timely and professional manner so that the customer is put first, always.
  • Participate fully in Finlays programs that drive continuous improvement methodologies.

Responsibilities

  • Learn, practice, and adhere to all written current good manufacturing processes (cGMPs) and Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) as they apply to cleaning and sanitizing of manufacturing equipment, facilities, and all general areas
  • Learn, practice, and adhere to all Safety and Quality Policies and Procedures
  • Learn, practice, and adhere to all Maintenance Department Policies and Procedures
  • Read, understand, and follow manufacturer’s directions for all chemicals used in the process of sanitizing manufacturing equipment
  • Properly use Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) to safeguard against exposure to chemicals, electrical hazards, and eye and ear hazards
  • Mixes sanitizing solutions for cleaning parts, equipment, and facilities
  • Cleans parts, equipment, equipment carts, racks, polishing brushes, mops, and mop buckets
  • Maintains daily logs directly associated with specifically assigned areas, and report any deviations to the Sanitation Supervisor
  • Assists with various bathroom duties (i.e.: excessive water clean-up, replacing light bulbs, re-filling toilet seat covers, spot check and clean restrooms as needed, monitor lunch/break room area and clean as necessary throughout the process of normal operating hours)
  • Maintain cleanliness of water fountains throughout the entire facility
  • Maintain supplies throughout the building (i.e.: hair nets, beard nets, shoe coverings, paper towels, paper cups, etc.)
  • Maintain the facility and grounds (i.e.: weeding, trash removal, and overall cleanliness of area outside building, on a daily basis and responsible for maintaining the appropriate logs, report any deviations to the Sanitation Supervisor
  • Completes assigned daily sanitation on plant equipment and facility
  • Maintain a clean, organized, and safe working environment to ensure efficiency, employee safety, and product integrity
  • Demonstrate good judgment by reacting to unsafe acts or conditions by making them safe or reporting them to those who can correct them
  • Perform assigned tasks while wearing Personal Protective Equipment (PPE), as required
  • Work in other areas, as needed
  • Must maintain confidentiality at all times
  • Performs all other duties as assigned
  • Regular and reliable attendance
